Workshop No. 3 General information

Following the successful 2nd EOP PCC Workshops (No. 1 in 2022 and No. 2 in 2023), we plan to organize another meeting devoted to the broadly defined topic of EOP forecasting and related aspects. The initiative is motivated by the sustained interest in EOP forecast evaluation within the 2nd EOP PCC and EOP PML, the rapid development of advanced forecasting methods, progress in modeling the impact of geophysical fluid layers on Earth’s rotation, and the activity of the new IERS Working Group on the Prediction of Earth Orientation Parameters (PEOP).

The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity to:
(1) summarize activities carried out within the post-operational phase of the 2nd EOP PCC campaign, particularly its EOP PML sub-campaign dedicated to machine learning-based forecasting methods;
(2) discuss future actions within the 2nd EOP PCC, EOP PML, and IERS Working Group on PEOP;
(3) engage in scientific discussions on recent developments in EOP determination, prediction, and interpretation.

We invite all interested researchers, not only EOP PCC participants and members of the IERS WG, to take part in the Workshop and submit abstracts. We welcome contributions on all topics related to the determination, analysis, and prediction of EOP, as well as discussions on reference solutions for EOP prediction validation, effective angular momentum analyses, and other relevant subjects. A dedicated session for discussion and feedback from 2nd EOP PCC participants is also planned.

Workshop will be held online. The workshop is scheduled for one day, Thursday, 9 April 2026, from 15:00 to 18:00 CEST (13:00 to 16:00 UTC).
