Dear Colleagues,
The Second EOP Prediction Comparison Campaign (2nd EOP PCC) has now been running for more than four and a half years, while its machine-learning-oriented sub-campaign (EOP PML) has been active for more than one and a half years, both well beyond the originally planned 70-week duration of the 2nd EOP PCC. During this period, we have compiled a unique and extensive dataset through the contributions of numerous teams worldwide, providing a valuable basis for the comparison and evaluation of EOP prediction methods.
The campaigns have now reached a natural conclusion, as their main scientific objectives have been achieved and participation has become increasingly less frequent and more irregular. We have therefore decided to officially conclude the 2nd EOP PCC and EOP PML. The planned end date is 30 June 2026, with the final weekly submission scheduled for Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
Similar to the official 2nd EOP PCC, we plan to make the campaign data publicly available to the scientific community. We have observed that the datasets from the official 2nd EOP PCC have been extensively used in a wide range of studies on EOP prediction. We therefore expect that providing access to the data collected during the post-operational phase of the 2nd EOP PCC and EOP PML will further stimulate research in this area.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all participants for their commitment and for the excellent collaboration throughout the campaigns. We greatly appreciate your contributions and hope to continue working together in the future.
Kind regards,
